We are very proud of our Reynolds delegates who attended the recent Canadian High School Model UN Conference (CAHSMUN). Antonia Kowalewski, Shae-Linn Davies, Gavin, Kierulf, Eilidh Morrison and Zara Chaudry all took part.
After a month of research, discussion and writing academic position papers during Thursday lunch hours (even despite many competing activities and meetings!), they came well-prepared for the challenges that they faced.
From Friday to Sunday afternoon, these students consistently devoted 100% of their mental energy and dedication to very intense, high-level debate and diplomacy (including midnight crises that went until 2am on Saturday night). They were kept busy, and the students were literally falling asleep on the skytrain back to Tsawassen!
The students were put on various committees from UNICEF to NATO to the American Revolution Crisis Committee. Our students’ poise, confidence, energy and ingenuity was nothing short of outstanding.
The level of skill, leadership, critical thinking and diplomacy that debate and Model UN demands prepares students for a complex, challenging and ever-changing world. Through experiences such as these, our students are truly expanding their horizons and learning to be the leaders and policymakers of tomorrow.
We have much to be proud of!
