Pink Shirt Day

Last year, our 2017 Pink Shirt Day drew its success from the commitment and support demonstrated by our Reynolds community locally and regionally. A number of initiatives galvanized the event, including the signing and display of nearly 1200 Anti-Bully Pledge Sheets by Reynolds Students and Staff, Community Businesses, First Responders and Post-Secondary Institution Staff (UVIC and Camosun). In addition, we were particularly fortunate to have Reynolds Graduate John Horgan (Premier of BC), Saanich Mayor Atwell, and world-renowned Pink Shirt Day Co-founder, Travis Price, sign Pledge Sheets. Students from our feeder middle schools, Cedar Hill and Arbutus, also committed to help prevent bullying and signed over-sized plastic pink shirt images that were displayed in our gym. Travis Price spoke at a school-wide assembly about being bullied and was inspiring with his messages of hope, courage and connection.

This year, our 2018 Pink Shirt Day initiatives will again include the distribution of resources to classroom teachers, annual signing and display on our interior walls of hundreds of Anti-Bully Pledge Sheets, Spoken Word and Choral performances at the Legislature on Feb. 28th, guest speakers, Advisory WordArt and class displays, a bake sale fundraiser for Women’s Transition House and other activities. We invite you to wear pink and come into Reynolds on Feb. 28th, see the Pledge Sheets, contribute to our fundraiser and join us in support of Pink Shirt Day.  Thank you, Heather Benson (Coordinator).
