Pamela has taken the role as captain of the Sn Girls Rugby 7s team, and did a great job of it! She led the team on and off the field by helping the team earn a 5th place finish at Provincials 2 weeks ago and received an all-star at the tournament.
Jesse ran a very successful Track & Field season. He crushed Lower Islands by winning both the 1500m and 300m races. He followed up by coming in 2nd in the 3000m race at Islands and at provincials he came in 5th place in the 1500m, and 7th in the 3000m, completing one of the hardest doubles in track.
Congratulations Pamela and Jesse!!

This month the honour goes to Benja and Layla. Layla has played very well this month on the Sr soccer team with some important assists and goals both in league games and Uvic tournament. Her tenacity and will to never give up is motivating for her teammates along with her skill and fitness makes her an integral part of our team with the run up to provincials! She is also playing rugby and balancing playing for both teams very well. Best of luck this week finishing both your seasons at provincials. Benja is one of the captains of the Sn Boys Rugby 7s team. He is a great player on and off the field, as a playmaker and distributor of the ball. He is always a player the team can count on, even when injured. Congratulations to both Layla and Benja!

Yejin is the consummate teammate and a great leader on the Jr Girls Soccer Team. She is reliable, and never misses meetings, training sessions, or games. She is also an amazing competitor who plays hard, but always shows respect toward her opponents and the officials. Yejin’s skill, integrity, and work ethic was recognized by her peers as they selected her as co-captain of the Jr. Girls soccer team.
Max has been an amazing contributor to the Senior Boys Rugby team. He shows up to every practice ready to learn and he is the most improved player on the team so far as he came with very little rugby knowledge and is now a starter. Well done, Max. Keep the energy going into the Island Championships.
Congratulations Yejin and Max. Both of you are excellent examples of the spirit of Athletics here at Reynolds.
March 2025
Mimi (Amelia) was a great contributor to the senior girls basketball team. She was encouraging to all of her new to basketball teammates and continued to support the team even when injured. She was a key member in the game allowing the team to qualify for the islands in a playoff game and helping the team achieve a 4th place finish at the islands, while getting a Player of the Game award. Mimi is also the goalkeeper and a leader on the Senior Girls Soccer team as their season is just beginning this Spring.
Our other athlete this month is Preston who is on the Ski & Snowboard team. After a season of strong results at the Island Zone races at Mount Washington, Preston earned a spot to represent Reynolds at Provincials. He showed incredible skill and speed throughout the 3-day competition, placing an impressive 21st in the Terrain Giant Slalom against the top snowboarders in the province at Troll Mountain.
Congratulations, Amelia and Preston.

February 2025
Mattie has been an instrumental part of the Junior Girls Basketball team this season. She has been a top scorer and a leader on the team. Mattie has also been called up as a grade 10 athlete to play on the Senior Girls team and was instrumental to their 4th place finish at the Island Championships at the end of the season. She works hard, uses her athleticism and skills, and is supportive of her teammates.
Joey has been one of the best players on the Senior Boys Basketball team. He has been excellent at leading with team concepts, sharing the ball, and showing strong teamwork. He has grown recently in being assertive when we need him to be, and pushing himself to make the most of his talents. He is able to think his way through games, organize teammates on the court, and adapt to various challenges thrown at him.
Congratulations goes out to Mattie and Joey.

January 2025
This is Mabel’s second year with the junior girl’s basketball team, and she is really finding her groove this year. Her skills are improving every day as well as her basketball IQ. She is becoming a force to be reckoned with on defense. Her ability to communicate with her teammates on the court is making her a leader for her team. She is a vital component of the squad.
Luka has shown improvement in maintaining a positive approach, communicating constructively with teammates, and giving full efforts to compete. He has shown perseverance and willingness to get better. The game can be unforgiving, and it has not always been fun this season. His responses have not always been great, but underneath he has kept coming back, and has showed a sincere ambition to improve.

December 2024
Saige P has been a leader on the Senior Girls Basketball team since last year. Her performance has been outstanding, as she has had several 50-point games so far this season. In addition, she has been a formative part of the culture of the team with her support and encouragement.
Our other December Athlete of the Month is Pouya P. As a grade 9 and the only member of the Reynolds Wrestling team, Pouya is having an excellent season so far, as he won the first tournament. His coaches are thrilled about his development in the sport, and they say that Pouya is exciting to watch wrestle.
Congratulations, Pouya and Saige.

November 2024
Reese has competed with the Swim team and the Cross Country team. She not only helped the Reynolds Swimming relay team qualify for Provincials, but she also qualified individually. Throughout the season, Reese maintained a fantastic attitude—always positive, encouraging, and a true team player. This is her final year at Reynolds, and the swim team will definitely miss her. On the Cross Country team, Reese ended up being the third runner on the team that helped the Reynolds Girls team win the bronze medal at the BC Championships.
Jack plays on the Senior Boys Soccer team that just competed in the Provincial Championships 2 weeks ago. He is a team first player and can always be counted on to put in his best effort. He is a true competitor, and understands that one can compete hard, but still follow fair play guidelines. He represented the Senior Boys Soccer team with class throughout the season, but truly shined at the Sr. Boys Provincial Soccer tournament in Burnaby. Reese and Jack, go see Mr Sitar for your Athlete of the Month tshirts.
Congratulations!

October 2024
Tristan H is a great nine athlete who plays volleyball and rugby and just finished 2nd in the province for Junior Boys in cross country. Improving upon his 3rd place finish at Islands, Tristan ran with the leaders for the first lap before he and the eventual champion—who is a grade 10 athlete—dropped the rest of the field on the second lap of an extremely muddy course at Jericho Beach in Vancouver. This is a huge result and the best ever finish for a grade nine athlete at Reynolds.
Having run for four years in both cross country and track and field at Reynolds, Julia M had her breakout season last year with a bronze in the 800m at the BC Track and Field Championships. She has followed that up with an impressive 7th place finish at the BC Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Julia ran strong and tactically through the wet course and lead her Senior Girls team to a 3rd place finish in the province! With Julia as a leader, the senior girls have won medals at two consecutive BC Championships.
And while these athletes are deserving of recognition for their athletic feats, it is their humility, kindness, and love of their teammates that makes them truly exceptional people. Congratulations to Tristan and Julia on being athletes of the month for October.

September 2024
