Coaches Info

Volunteers (community coaches) need the following requirements to coach in our School District:

1.) Criminal Record Check – usually takes a minimum of two weeks to process and for the school to receive the clearance letter.  Clearance letters must be received by the school prior to driving any students other than your own. Please use the following link and access code: Link: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/ Access Code: Q28Z744XR6

2.) Safeschool Training – As of Sept 2023 all SD61 coaches must complete the free, e-learning Safe Sport Training provided by the Coaching Association of Canada PRIOR to coaching a secondary sports team.  Please use this link to complete the training course https://coach.ca/module/safe-sport-training

Email isitar@sd61.bc.ca a screenshot of the completed course.

3.) Concussion Training

BCSS created a mandate in 2020 to have all coaches, teacher sponsors and managers in the province to have Concussion training. Training has to be recertified every 2 years. The good news is that it is free and you just have to send me the certificate at the end of the training. BCSS has stated that coaches must have the training to coach at provincial championships and may request to see it, but also they can look up coaches on the CATT website themselves. Please email isitar@sd61.bc.ca the certificate once the course is completed.  Here is the link to the training program: https://cattonline.com/course/concussion-awareness-training-tool-for-coaches

**SD61 staff  are only required to do items 2 & 3

Athletics forms to give to students:

Coaches, please provide these forms (link below) to your athletes at the beginning of the season, along with an introduction letter and league schedule, and have them returned to you before league play starts. Hold on to them for your entire season of play to refer back to them if necessary.
Please also provide this package to Nicole in the office.
Thank you,
Istvan
